Memorial Day Weekend in Reno
Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in Reno/Tahoe
Memorial Day in 2022 is Monday, May 30. This three-day weekend is typically a good springboard into the summer season and always provides lots of events and things to do around Reno.
Honor Our Heros
Many people forget this is a holiday to honor our heroes that have given their lives for our Country. Virginia City has a Memorial Day Celebration of Heros Parade on Saturday, May 28.
Head to the Lake
A day at the beach with your feet in the sand sounds like just what we need. One of the best perks of living in Reno is how close we are to multiple lakes and, most importantly, beautiful Lake Tahoe. The most popular beaches in Tahoe are Sand Harbor, North Tahoe Beach, and Kings Beach. Head up early to get a good spot in the sand.
Railroad
May 28th and 29th, the V&T Railway will have one-way, or round trip rides from Carson to Virginia City.
Keep an eye out for the Carson City Railbike Tour dates! Take a breathtaking tour through the Carson River Valley on motor-assisted, peddle railbikes. It's a fun way for the entire family to experience the beauty and history behind the railroad.
Taco Tuesday Ball Game
Although the Aces don't play on Mondays, they do have a home game on Tuesday after Memorial Day. Tuesdays are all about tacos, with 2 street tacos for $6 and 2 street tacos and a Tecate for $10. Aces are up against the Tacoma Rainiers.
Food on the River
Reno is slowly adding unique food to the community. There are plenty of breweries and restaurants with patio seating to hang out with friends and family in the sun and enjoy great food.
Slide into Monday
Wild Island Waterpark's opening day is May 20 from 4:00 - 7:00. May park days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. If you want to go on Memorial Day, the park opens at 11:00 that Monday. They still have season passes available, or you can buy tickets online before going, but that does not guarantee park admission. Get there early to secure your spot!
Hike the Hills
Hiking or walking the trails around the Truckee Meadows provides the perfect opportunity to get outside in the sun and enjoy the fresh air. If you are looking for a leisurely stroll, head to Anderson Trail or Ambrose Park. Want a more advanced hike? We highly suggest the Mt. Rose Summit Trail or
Relax in the Park
Want to keep it lowkey? Head to your local park and enjoy a picnic with the kids and let them run around. This is one of our favorite things to do on the weekend. It allows our girl to burn some energy, sit in the sun for a few hours, and enjoy our time together.
Thank goodness it snowed over Mother's Day, so we should be good for the rest of Spring, right...?
Whatever your plans are for the weekend, we hope you honor those around you and remember those that lost their lives for our Country.
