Which is better, Fake or Real Grass?
We went to a showing a few weeks back, and the house had fake grass or sometimes called AstroTurf. Our house has natural grass, but we have three dogs, and I can tell you real grass and dogs just do not mix well.
So that got us thinking... Real Grass or Fake Grass?
Everyone loves luscious green grass, what we don't love, the second the water gets turned off, and it turns dry and yellow.
No watering, no feeding, and no mowing. Those all sound like amazing positives to me, but let's dive into some pros and cons of real and fake grass.
- Great for the environment
- Improve wellness and Stress
- Improve community appeal
- Best for recreation and sport
- Water -- automatic, but monthly upkeep cost
- Environmental effects
- Pests and Rodents
- Can last 15-25 years
- No watering
- No mowing
- Many color and texture options
- Long term savings
- Expensive upfront
- It's Plastic
- Not biodegradable
- Absorbs and holds heat
- Not excellent for pets, there are "pet" options, and many people give them mixed reviews
When we go to replace our grass since the dogs have killed it, we will definitely be looking into astroturf options to see the best fit for our daughter and three dogs.
We hope this list helps you decide the best fit for you and your family. Tell us, what do you wish you had?
